Many people know what they want in their garden but find it difficult
to visualise. I offer a personal design service which will help you to
create a garden to meet your needs and lifestyle. Whether you are
a keen plantsman or you use your garden regularly for entertaining
in the summer, or you just want an attractive but practical garden
in which the family can relax and enjoy, I can help you by providing
detailed plans, planting schemes and advice on construction.

Stage 1
After your initial approach I arrange to visit your garden and
discuss your requirements in detail. It helps at this stage if
you have already thought about your priorities, time available
for maintenance, budget and features which you would like
included. Following this meeting I would normally submit a
detailed design brief based on our discussions, together with
an estimate of design fees and a list of what the Fees cover. Stage 2
If the estimate is acceptable I will carry out a detailed
survey of your site, noting changes in ground level, existing
planting, prevailing winds, drainage capacity, views and your
house style. Taking into account all these factors and your
preferences an outline plan is drawn up. It is usual for one or
two meetings to take place at this stage to make sure all the
possibilities have been explored.
The final plan may be upplemented with sketches and/or
other illustrations to help visualise the scheme. Once the
design has been agreed I then prepare a more detailed plan
with guideline specifications for the construction of the garden. |

Stage 3
The planting scheme must be sympathetic to the overall
design and this is normally quoted for as a separate stage.
Practical considerations will include the amount of light and
shade in your garden, the type of soil, gradients and degree
of shelter. Your own preference for colour, form and texture,
seasonal diversity, as well as maintenance schedules will be
important influences on the planting design.
Stage 4
You may wish to carry out the work yourself and use my
expertise on an hourly basis when you need it. Alternatively,
I can arrange for recommended landscape contractors to
quote for the construction and planting and, rather like an
architect, I can oversee the building and planting process
for a specified fee. |

|
|
A fee of £50.00 is charged for the initial visit which normally
takes about an hour. This is deducted from the design fee if
you decide to go ahead with the design process.
My fees for the survey, the design and the meetings will be
given in writing as mentioned in Stage 1. Additional services
such as advisory visits and planting plans will be based
on an hourly rate and agreed with you before the work is
carried out. Travel costs are included in the fee structure.
